St. Patrick's Day Bay AreaWhile the 161st Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival will gallivant about the City by the Bay, you have the power to switch it up a bit—why take the BART in when you can stick around and have just as much fun? There are a variety of local activities worth checking out come St. Paddy’s day—it all depends on what you want to do.
San Jose’s Santana Row will be dressed in green all weekend, from Friday to Monday. Famous Rosie McCann’s Irish Pub & Restaurant will be serving up green beer and traditional Irish fare, as well as hosting bagpipes in the afternoon. Towards the evening, DJ Huski will fuel the celebration into the early morning. Rosie McCann’s welcomes all guests, no matter how Irish, to eat their food—all dishes are sourced from local farms, pastures, and fisheries.
Just down the road, O’Flaherty’s Irish Pub celebrates St. Patrick’s Day in similar style. The week of the 11th through the 17th, one of San Jose’s best Irish pubs offers live music four nights a week—Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Sunday night’s concert will be truly special as Zoo Station, the Bay Area’s premier U2 cover band, takes the stage. The week of the 11th will also include trivia night and late-night karaoke, so you can sing your favorite Irish tunes, too.
