A Hero's Life is one of Richard Strauss's final and greatest tone poems. Using the resources of full-scale orchestra to tell the tale of “a hero fighting his enemies,” this classical presentation is an interrupted, fifty minute piece, performed without pause until the dramatic pause at the end of the first movement. This performance is a true highlight of the Symphony Silicon Valley season.
Founded in 2002, the Symphony Silicon Valley in California began as a small orchestra, arising from the remnants of the former San Jose Symphony. As the group began to earn recognition, experience musicians from everywhere converged upon the Bay Area and started working together as a collective unit. This renowned symphony now prepares seven seasonal programs throughout the year held at the California Theater.
The California Theatre is restored historical venue in San Jose with state-of-the-art tech systems and comfortable seating for any event. The theater hosts events such as theatrical performances, sporting competitions and music concerts.
