You are in for a special musical treat this November 9 at First Baptist Church, located at 305 North California Avenue. The Palo Alto Philharmonic has put together a stellar lineup for their fall concert. The community-based musical group, led by Music Director Thomas Shoebotham and Composer-in-Residence Lee Actor, brings together a tremendous amount of local talent. To support a registered nonprofit organization, come to the Chamber Concert to help the musicians, most of whom are volunteers, with a $20 general admission. Special rates are available for seniors and students. You can purchase tickets online at http://www.paphil.org/pages/concerts/chamber1.php .
Expect an eclectic mix of small instrumental groups, including orchestra members and invited musical guests. While the Palo Alto Arts Center Auditorium is under renovation, the Palo Alto First Baptist Church will hold this event. Within easy walking distance, you can stop in for a cup of coffee or a mint mojito at Philz Coffee, a popular hangout spot in this neck of the woods. Or, you can order a scoop of Saffron Pistachio ice cream at Rick’s Ice Cream.
With plenty to do, eat, and enjoy, you’ll have a full day exploring the sights and sounds around Palo Alto. You won’t want to miss this unique musical performance, featuring a String Quartet, wind, and brass ensembles, attracting an audience from all over the San Francisco Bay Area. An established favorite of northern California’s music scene, you can see where now-renowned soloists such as pianists Jeno Jando and Barbara Nissman and violinists Livia Sohn, Karen Bentley, and Bin Huang first got started on stage.
