Sample some unique chili recipes at the Annual Summer Festival and Chili Cook-off, one of the Palo Alto's most popular 4th of July events. In its 33rd consecutive year, this popular event attracts thousands of chili-lovers, who gather to celebrate our nation's freedom by enjoying some spicy homemade food and entertainment.
Taste a variety of chili concoctions prepared by teams of talented chefs, competing for the right to call themselves chili master. The festival will also include food vendors, children’s activities, live music and dancing.
Hosted at Mitchell Park on 600 East Meadow Dr., the Summer Festival and Chili Cook-off will run from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on July 4, with chili tasting beginning at 1:30 p.m. Admission is free and guests will have the chance to purchase tasting kits for a small fee. Offsite parking will be available at the Cubberley Community Center on 4000 Middlefield Road, and shuttle service will be available throughout the day.
Awards will be given for best spirit, best booth and, of course, best chili. Guests are invited to submit their chili recipes for the competition. For an entry application, call 650-463-4953.
